Last stop....

We were the last stop of Sarah Palin's campaign trail. And it was worth the wait!!! She is amazing! What a great lady. Her plane was 45 minutes late, but the crowd was loud, excited and happy to be there despite the late hour. You would never know that many of the people there had likely been up at 3am to work a shift at one of the mines. Many of them were likely getting up just as early this morning to go back to work at the mines! The people of THIS county were there to show their support to the Republican Party. Our county is the swing county that has often turned our state Republican and you could feel the pride they have at that very fact! There was standing room only, thousands showed up! It was amazing. The first two pictures are when we first got there.... while there was still some room.

Sarah Palin is amazing! She has the ability to light a fire and speak in a way that lets you know that she KNOWS what it's like to be one of us. Rarely have I been so impressed! Anyone that tries to say that she and McCain don't have a clear plan on how to lead this great nation are blinded. They have a vision of America that IS what America is supposed to be! They love this country and they are willing to serve it! I am so sick of hearing the other side tell us how they will make the government bigger, tax us more, and spread the wealth! M. Thatcher said, "Eventually socialists run out of other people's money." And F. Dane said, "A liberal is a man who will give away everything he doesn't own." It is predicted time after time that democracy will fall when people get lazy and complacent. It is so sad that around the world people would fight and die for the right to be free, to live the way that we do. Yet we live with all of the freedoms and become complacent and decide that instead of wanting a president, instead of wanting freedoms, instead of being grateful for the opportunity to work out our own life and accomplish all that we can, we decide we want a king. A king to take care of us, a king to give hand outs.... sadly, history has shown that this doesn't happen. When you allow socialism to take hold, then your rights are gone!!! Nothing good can come of 'spreading the wealth'.... All we can do is pray now! But it was a pleasure to see such a great woman speak, with such a great vision of this amazing country!

Willie, Wyatt, Hayden, Kailee, Kassi, Jace and Kinzee went and were fired up and excited to be there. They got to shake her hand and see her up close and personal. The atmosphere was electric and on fire when she came in. Although poor Jarom (nephew) couldn't stay awake despite his best efforts! :)

More Nathaniel... just because!

I'm bored.... and should be cleaning! But the spaghetti sauce is simmering and I don't want to clean. I was downloading pictures so I can empty the card in the camera so we can take it to see Palin tonight and found the cute pictures of Nate getting his bath in the sink. Thayne was supposed to quickly bath Nate, but they both ended up having so much fun that the bath turned into quite the event! Now Nate loves bathing in the kitchen sink but needs the big spoon to really enjoy the bath. As soon as we put him in, he starts looking around for, and squeeling for the spoon!!! The whole family usually comes in and watches him playing... really it's quite pathetic to see how everyone finds everything he does so wonderful and entertaining. What is he going to do when he realizes that the world really doesn't revolve around him??? :) Oh, and I added two more pictures just because I like them.... the kids had tried on his new hat and he fell asleep with it on after sucking down his bottle!

My kids are so excited! Tonight is the night!!! Sarah Palin is coming to town and everyone wants to go. Even Kami wants to see Palin! The problem? It's at 10pm tonght! But they don't care... they want to go! Guess we'll be hauling the whole family to see Sarah Palin tonight! You would think it's Christmas today, the kids all got up so excited that today is finally the day!! Willie just told me he is going to BEG her for a picture. I laughed and told him it isn't likely he will get close enough to ask, but the boy is full of hope today... he's going to see Palin!

And lest you believe that only the outside got done today... I want to high five Kassi for keeping the laundry going downstairs and bringing it up for me to fold! I got this mountain folded and we will be putting it away right now!!! Go team!

And to prove what I said about being hicks....

Kids in the city hang out at the malls, go to movies, do all kinds of 'city' type stuff on the weekends. Not my kids! I mentioned in a previous post that they are hicks. True blue, hick town America, not quite a redneck, but awfully close, HICKS!!! I looked out the window to see my husband and several children standing around... watching Shalum in the backhoe. You would have thought they were watching the most entertaining thing EVER! Two of the boys were in the backhoe with Shalum, the others were just watching! WOW! What fun. Of course that was between Garrett and Jace wrestling and trying to spray each other with orange spray paint! Hey... we really know how to live!!!

New leach field... again!

We've put it off as long as we could.... but knew it would have to happen eventually. Our ground is so hard, and if the leach field is not done absolutely right, there are some pretty 'stinky' problems! We've limped it along, prayed hard that it would hold out, and finally broke down knowing it had to be done! This morning bright and early the work started. Shalum (thanks little brother!!!), Garrett, Tallin and Jace showed up in force to start the work. It's now after 3pm and they are still working, but hopefully it will be done tonight and we can enjoy the winter not worried about the ground being saturated and that the septic tank can now do it's job! And if there was any doubt about my sons being miners at heart, I just have to spend a few minutes out there watching them. Jace is the smart one of the bunch, running the backhoe! :) Boys and dirt... boys and big equipment... yeah, that's heaven to them!!!

And we had two sweet men from church who knew what we were doing, show up with a load of wood today. Thayne couldn't go out to help them today, they were doing another service run to get wood for those that need it, and this time, they were so sweet, and dropped a load off here knowing that we were busy trying to get the leach field done. They are great guys! Thayne actually told them to just drop it off with the other wood they had cut for the church and that they would get it cut up, but they told him no way, this load was for us. Sometimes when you get feeling like things are overwhelming and crazy, it's so awesome to see great people always willing to give!
