Part 4.... the rain came!

Like I mentioned earlier, we planned on staying until at least 10pm, if not until closing. The kids were having a blast and the day couldn't have been more perfect. The weather was amazing, not too hot, often with cloud cover and we were all enjoying ourselves, though I have to admit, I was pretty exhausted since Nate had been up a lot the night before. We were all headed over to another ride after meeting up with some of the older kids. Kailee wanted me to go on the Rocket with her. Thayne went one way to tell the boys something and I went another with the little kids and planning to meet at the ride. And then the rain came.... there were a couple of drops, and then a down pour. Nothing in the middle, no time to prepare, the heavens just opened up and let loose! In literally minutes there were puddles on the flat ground that went to my ankles! Kinzee was pushing Nate in the stroller and I had Kalli, Hyrum and Kami by the hand running them to the cars while Thayne went in search of Tallin and Willie and Kailee went with one of their friends to look for Kassi and her friend's little sister. It was coming down so hard, Kalli was crying and I am the mean mom who told her she didn't need to cry, it was rain for crying out loud and why was she crying! ;) I finally scooped Nate up and held him with his face to me because these raindrops were the size of quarters pounding us. I got them in the Excursion and the car and blasted the heaters in both while I was undressing and changing them, getting them dried and warm. It took forever to find everyone and meet up, but we decided that we would just go grab some pizza from Little Caesars and head home. The rides closed down and though they would open up if it stopped raining, it was still going strong by the time we left and we figured it had been a full, fun day and we would be okay leaving a little early. Some of the kids changed in the car and the rest of us changed in a gas station so we didn't have to ride home in soaking clothes! After we got pizza we saw the most amazing rainbows, double, full rainbows. Of course my camera batteries were all dead because SOMEBODY (cough cought, Kassi... cough!) forgot to charge them like she promised me, since she is the one that usually runs the batteries dead! We were trying to get pictures with the camera but they didn't turn out very well and you can't see the really amazing sight it was. I wanted to get a picture of the puddles made from the rain but when I got my cell phone out of the car it was dead because I forgot my charger and Kailee was charging her phone in the car with my car charger. So this is all we got.....

Just another picture Kassi was trying to take. Everytime she actually got a good one a car drove by and messed it up. It was a really fun mini get away and I am so grateful for the fun times and for my amazing family.

Part 3.... "This is the BEST day!"

Finally.... the long awaited trip to Lagoon. It is what fun is after all! The kids couldn't wait to get there and we promised we wouldn't leave until 10pm at least! We had every intention of keeping that promise too.... but that's for another post! I have a lot of pictures of the little kids, but the minute the big kids hit the gate they were gone, off and running, and by the time we caught up to them again, my battery had died! Thayne and I had a great time with the little ones on their rides. They had a blast. In Pioneer Village we got some cotton candy, a brownie and some ice cream and sat and enjoy the perfect day. As we were sitting there eating, talking to Kami, Hyrum and Nater Kami looked up and said, "This is the BEST day!" I told her I thought so too. As we walked back heading for the rides again she said to Hyrum, "This is the best day, just hanging out with our mom, and our dad... oh this is the BEST day..... and mom could blog that!" Thayne just burst out laughing and said, "Like mother like daughter!" But she is so right... we had nothing to do, no place to be, nothing to worry about except how long the line was... it really was the best day!

It's funny that when I look at this picture it seems like such a small group! They were all ready to get into the park and start having some fun....

The first thing they wanted to do after the spook alley was run through the water. I told them that we didn't have anything to dry off with, but they didn't care and off they went, loving every second of it all. I think they could have stayed here all afternoon!

Time to hit the bumper cars... Kalli and Hyrum had it down and loved driving the cars. Kami mostly sat in the corner not quite getting the concept of twisting the wheel to get it to turn... by the end she liked it but she hadn't traveled far from where she started!

They had a blast on the swings too... Kalli and Kami waiting for the ride to start.

Nate was obsessed with this tree. Maybe he just doesn't see many trees in Nevada? He kept hiding from his dad behind it and kept making the cutest faces as he would peak out from behind it. Maybe it was the outfit his sisters put on him that morning and he was trying to blend in with his surroundings or something, who knows, but he loved it!

I love the expression on Hyrum's face looking at Nathaniel. It just represents the relationship between the kids, they find so much joy in watching the others accomplish things in life! He wanted Nate to go with him and drive the car and Nate got such a kick out of it!

Next stop... the merry-go-round!!!

Nate became so tired he was delirious... he was making us laugh because he would look at us and start laughing hysterically like he knew some great joke that we were all missing out on. It was so cute!

FERRIS WHEEL

I swear I was having a full blown panic attack on this ride. I can ride all of the crazy rides but sitting on that darn ferris wheel makes me break out in a sweat! And it didn't help that Nate obviously didn't take the sign serious that told him to remain seated!!! Nope, not loving the ferris wheel at all!

The Rocket is Kailee and Hayden's favorite ride. They rode it over and over and over. Thayne said he wouldn't go with me. I remember the first time he rode it with me. The horrible memories it brought back to when he was working underground in Milwaukee, headed underground and the clutch went out in the hoist and they dropped 250 ft before they were able to stop it just before it hit the ground! He swears that would be his nightmare way of dying! We all just told him he was being chicken but he didn't care! :)
