Hayden wanted me to blog his picture of the rainbow... it has rained and stormed off and on all day which has been a wonderful treat from the heat. Perfect weather when it smells like rain.... We have had lightening and thunder and they got stuck in a down pour coming home from the marina. So here you go Hayden... your picture is blogged and it is beautiful!!!
Sometimes on a Saturday we get bored.... so we do what we do a lot... we go for a ride! This Saturday we were laughing about how we live in the sticks and there is nothing to do, so Thayne and I felt it was our responsibility to look for the positive of living in the middle of nowhere and that there are great and exciting things happening all around us.... we just have to be willing to look!!! Sure, there are no fancy water parks, no drive in movies, no amusement rides, or fancy shopping... and yet, we aren't really lacking for any of it. The ride was so bumpy and on the edge.... that it rivaled any Lagoon ride... and we saw couches set up outside the trailers just waiting to watch a movie outside, there are mattresses and couches galore to choose from if you really felt the need and we can see castles and shanties and everything in between. We don't have beautiful lakes and streams, but we do have a dried up old river and it's most definitely exciting to run your feet through the slime and see how far you can sink in the ick and mud out there. We may not have beautiful trees and flowers, but we have cool rocks, and caves, and a never ending chance of seeing a snake, or two! We have dust, and when the Excursion is covered in dust Kailee thinks it looks tough! And that is what matters after all! So... while we aren't raising our kids to be refined city dwellers.... they sure know how to crank up the music, sing really loud and bounce around the Excursion on the best dirt roads around! And look at the sights... who could ask for anything more!!!One of the wider, more civilized roads....
Never a shortage of new beds if you are in the market for one... this was one of several you could choose from...

Dad said yes... so Bummy said he is going for it....the girls weren't as quickly convinced... thought they would wait and see how far and fast Hyrum sunk!
Bummy, upon getting in without his shoes realized that he really didn't like the feel of slime, and ick between his toes and declared to all that would listen that 'This is gross!!!'....
Mom said no... dad said yes... ICK! There was slick green, fuzzy stuff at the bottom of this little dream location. And after stepping in Kalli declares, "Ewwww daddy, this is wet!" Let's not tell her school teacher that she just realized climbing into a slimy river gets you wet!!!

Gabe spent the night at our house because Tiffany and Garrett went out camping... so we showed them... we went 4 wheelin' and hanging out in the 'high desert'....

Every state has it's beauty.... this is ours?! Thankfully it was too hot to see the rattle snakes out today!
Coming down into the valley... probably not as gracious as the pioneers of old were able to settle in.... I get concerned when I hear Thayne say, "Let's jump out and lock in the hubs Kailee, that way we can go down a lot slower...." the road (do I call it a road, it had room for one set of wheels on it and the other set would have to maneuver over some odd looking rocks and ruts.... REALLY, seriously Thayne????
Nate had had it with the river since there were slimy things in the water and he refuses to put his feet in slimy water, he was ready to go and thought he might be able to persuade his dad to let him drive. It sadly didn't work, but he figures he will keep trying!
Just enjoying the view... the things you can view when you drive off the main roads and go out to see the country...
This picture is just not close enough to show this homestead for all it had. This is a motor home of sorts with a partially built 'addition' we think. It's quite the little set up going on... and again, someone would actually have to find them to demand property taxes! Or maybe that is the reason the addition is not completed!!!
All the comforts of home.... just most of them don't actually fit inside the home... hence the reason for 'building on'? The owner of this future palace can sit on his couch and watch as we drive by waving and taking pictures....
Not sure what this out building is... possibly the outhouse, since it is far enough from the house to not be an issue. We weren't sure what the 15 mph sign meant...however it looks like a few random signs were sitting next to it so maybe it is code for something???
No area would be complete without water parks to enjoy....
If you need a little help decorating any of the following lovely homes, you can just drive down the road and find your self a comfortable, though slightly used but still functioning couch... take it to the car wash and it should be good as new!!!
Little fix up projects and soon you can be the proud owner of a double wide in this sweet little trailer park... the view alone would be worth it!
Fancy trailer parks in the middle of nowhere...just settle down and call it home...
Any dream can be realized out here in the West... you can live in a trailer.... or build your own castle... you are only limited to your willingness to dream... and work a little!
The dream was the white picket fence. That darn dream seems to have fallen through... however because we are country folk, we always seem to come up with the next best thing.... and this bad boy of a fence is just about the next best thing! To what I am not sure... but a beautiful fence of siding...
And old garage doors are unique and definitely make a statement..... I will let you decide exactly what that statement is... for us it was just some good pictures to blog about.... and for that we thank you owner of the home that is entirely surrounded by this awesome siding/garage door fence!
From the fence made with siding and garage doors.... to this thing of beauty.... the differences are vast and deep.... what works for one won't work for another, but it's a free country so you get to take your pick and go with what best suits you!!!
Not sure what this is about... possibly a phone for lone and weary travelers to stop and make a call... or perhaps Superman lives here???

Keeps property taxes low... if they come along and chalk the tires you can just drive it around a little and claim you were never there! Note to self... the first step out the door is a big one!

Nate loves hanging out at the marina and was kicking pine cones, making 'duck' noises and even got to kick a dead fish... I love this little boy. As soon as he realized I was there he ran up to me and wanted to be picked up and then said, "Hi mommy!!!"
