Almost anything goes!

They got down and derby! The young men and young women had a pine wood derby Tuesday night. It was a little different than the scouting pine wood derby. Their cars were able to be 10 oz and almost anything goes with this one! Monday night for Family Home Evening Thayne and the kids went to work on their cars. Nothing like procrastination!!! And their procrastination paid off. They each did their own cars, and they each came in 1st place in their heats. In the end Kassi took 2nd over-all... she thinks she was robbed since they won constantly until the final round! They had a fantastic time! They said it was the best ym/yw activity they could remember and kudos to the leaders because the kids said it was so organized and fun!!

Birthday party!

Whew! I found the cord to download the pictures from my camera to the computer! Was getting a little stressed there!

Tonight was Jace's birthday. But we were also throwing a surprise party for one of my dearest friends, Debra Lynn (since I am the only one that gets to call her Debra). Deb moved away from here, far too long ago, made her home in Alaska and now in Washington. Thank goodness for me she has a son and a new grand baby here so I get to see her once in a while. But her birthday was yesterday, and Jace shares his birthday with her husband Jerry. Jer was killed at work 12 years ago in May... Deb and I have been best friends for at least that long.... I was her first visiting teacher when they moved out here. So much for hiding out! ;) So her son Ben asked if we could do something for her birthday. And since she surprised me last year and came to town on my birthday, I was only too willing to surprise her this time. It was hard to keep the secret. She kept telling me what she was doing tonight as we were out to lunch. I kept smiling on the inside and telling her what we were doing tonight for Jace's birthday.... not mentioning that she would be here too! She always calls me "my Kimberli" so when Ben told her they were coming here she said, "To my Kimberli's house?" My girls call her "my Debbie" so they were thrilled when they found out "my Debbie" was coming for dinner! We had tacos, lots of fun visiting and cake for Deb and cheesecake for Jace, because cheesecake is what he wanted! It was a little crazy here, but lots of fun!

Happy Birthday Gordon Jace! I can't believe it was 21 years ago tonight that they put you in my arms. You have been so precious to me from that very first night. Brought me so much joy and so much peace! May you have a wonderful year and that you will find the way to make your life everything you dreamed of and more!!! I love you!!!

Got the carpet paid for and ordered today! Doing the happy dance!!!

Jace is putting trim in the living room as I type (he's having to work around me... he's so good not to complain!!! hehehehe)

Oh... and the fun stuff... I booked flights to San Diego for Thayne, Tiffany, Garrett and me! Yep... I did it! We are going to California in April! Thayne promised Tiffany he would take her. So we will be leaving on a jet plane next month! OH JOY!!!

While I was booking the flights I saw airline tickets for $99 to Colorado... I sure wanted to book one to go see Talitha! Dang!!!

Now I am wondering if my house will ever be put back together!!!

Kimi's birthday party

Sponge Bob Square Pants was the theme of our party! I know, I know... she's 20! But kids at our house don't really like to grow up so it's all good anyway! We had a great time. But I really need more room in my house if we are going to have so many people over. That or I need to find friends with way smaller families! :) We only had 41 people here, but it kind of felt like 400 when there is no room to walk! The chicken noodle soup turned out great with garlic bread and bread sticks and salad.... and thanks to Melissa for making the Sponge Bob ice cream cakes for Kimi! Entertainment was provided for by Katie who brought the movies of the party from last night! It is so wonderful to have great friends who have been here to share our lives... they are like our family!!!! And proof positive is to watch the kids interact with the adults... they act like any one could be their parents and the parents treat the kids like they could be their own! It was especially funny when Kassi started messing with Tracy and told him she could take him down like she does her dad! In the end it was Kassi that got taken down... and got a daddy kiss on her face to pay her for her efforts! If we could have stopped laughing long enough to get a picture we would have... as it is, we only have the memory to tease her about for years to come!!!

Twilight Party... or... You can make anything into an 80's song!

Yep... you CAN make any situation into an 80's song! :)

Tonight we were having a girls party at Katie's house. Twilight came out on video... well, it will on the 21st but it is at my house because I have to put it out in the video store on the 21st and the girls decided to take advantage of it and have a party. Parties with Katie and the girls always seems to include some dancing and singing 80's music. I'm telling you... my girls were all born in the wrong era... except had they been born in the 80's they would have had to have been my sisters instead of my daughters! So there was first some incredibly funny and entertaining dancing and singing to songs such as You Shook Me All Night Long, Jesse's Girl, Pour Some Sugar On Me and numerous songs by Journey. So what... they're rock stars! :) I love hanging out with my girls. They make me feel young and happy when I am with them!

And after brownie desserts complete with ice cream, caramel and hot fudge, we are ready to settle in to Twilight! Ummmmm... I think we were caught up in the heat of the moment when it came out on big screen! Katie's tv did it no justice!!!! :) It's kind of cheesy!?! But oh how we laughed! This is where Kailee decided that you can relate anything to an 80's song. So much of the night was spent with random 80's songs being thrown out for any given scene in the movie! We figured with as much money as they made on Twilight, they surely can afford some big name actors to play Bella and Edward in the second movie... we were thinking Angelina and Brad! Don't ya think Angie would be a great Bella... with those big lips after she is changed to a vampire.... WOW... watch out! And she is partial to viles of blood around her neck so she seems to be perfect for the part! Yep... love bites! The show was cheesy but the company was top notch and it was just too much fun!

At one point Katie counted how many bodies were on the floor and couch watching the movie... 17! Yep... 17! She said she couldn't believe she had that many people there watching the movie. I just laughed and told her, "Welcome to my world!" Kassi can't believe how much fun it is to watch movies with us grown women... Buffy, Katie and I don't consider ourselves grown women... sheesh! We are much to young to be grown women!

We are now looking forward to chicken noodle soup and the Sponge Bob birthday party Kimi requested for tomorrow! Poor Katie... she thought 17 was bad... with her family, Buffy's family and Melissa's family (Kimi invited them all for soup and cake), there's going to be more like 57 people for dinner! This should be fun!

I was taking these with my cell phone and since there was much dancing and moving it didn't make for very clear pictures... that will teach me to leave my camera when I go out of the house! However Katie has it all on film and she threatened to have it all over youtube by morning! We know her better... her idea of 'myspace' is the space inside her pantry door... we know we have made it in the world when we have pictures up on Katie's myspace!
