What's with July and illnesses???

I have been sick since Friday. Really sick. As in I NEVER stay in bed, and I did not climb out of bed Saturday until 3:30pm to get to Kylee and Cory's wedding reception. Then I came home and went back to bed. To add to the burning chest and coughing, aching, stuffy head I got a migraine, and it stayed, and stayed and I am beyond miserable, to the point of losing patience now!

And of course Nate has bronchitis, after just finishing medication for a horrible ear infection. He is still coughing a lot and we are doing breathing treatments 4 times a day. Kami is on medication for sinus infection too. And tonight I took Kalli in because she was up all night last night with an ear ache. That makes sense considering she has a bulging ear drum.

While at the clinic there were 2 other people talking about how they were both diagnosed with bronchitis also. And the pediatricians office said they were booked solid with sick kids! The doctor I saw last night told me that they had a few cases of the swine flu around here! This is just not okay! Nope... I am ready to put that bubble over the house and get and keep everyone healthy!

Too close for comfort!

I have been thinking the last few days about the fact that it's been a year since Nathaniel was flown out of here not knowing if he was going to live or die. That he was diagnosed with strep pneumonia and how we spent the next two weeks literally fighting for his life in the hospital. We have been so careful over this year to keep him healthy. We probably over react to any little illness but that was such a scary, dark time and his life hung by a thread several times of the days and weeks of his illness. And even when he came home he had to have blood drawn, iv antibiotics and constant Dr visits to make sure his body was fighting the way we needed him to in order to completely heal. His life is so precious to us, I doubt that there is a day that goes by that we don't look at him and marvel at the miracles we saw last year.

Because of that, my heart started doing flip flops the other morning when I heard him coughing. And today as I waited in the doctor's office I felt that old familiar fear grip my heart... I knew that he wasn't as sick as he was last year, but we have worked so hard to keep him healthy, taken so many precautions to keep his little lungs healthy and healing. His doctor is awesome though, and anytime I call she gets us right in. I called this morning since Nate and I had both been sick. His pediatrician was booked but they had me leave a message for the nurse, and then sure enough, they called me back and told me to bring him in before my appointment and they would fit him in to see her. She listened, and listened, and listened some more just to make sure she isn't missing something. And the verdict is that he has bronchitis... he's moving air okay, but she can definitely hear wheezing and his left lung has some fluid. He just finished his meds for an ear infection but we are now treating him for this. We caught it early... but still, it scares me. We had too many close calls last year and I do not want to deal with hospitals this year! So here's hoping that the medication works quickly and completely and our sweet little man stays healthy and strong! What a year it has been. What a ride we have been on with him... but oh what an amazing child he is!

Kassi = Blond :)

And we are completely okay with you being blond Kassi, but you do provide us with the best conversation topics! We went up to pick the kids up from youth conference since we have a wedding, and 2 wedding receptions to go to tomorrow and we needed to be some what prepared. The girls were just bouncing with excitement as they got in and started right in on the stories! Thayne then told Kassi that her 'ma' told him that they were so glad to have Kassi in their 'family' this year (last year they did a trek like the early pioneers who settled Utah) because it was great to have a blond in the family. She then went on to tell Thayne that Kassi was sitting around the fire with the other kids in the family when she decided she had enough of it. She said she hated fires.... because they smelled like wood!!! Okay, well she has a different version of the story but we are going with this one!!! Love ya Kass!

I broke down, and matched socks!

There are some things that you put off, and put off, and put off some more, even though that thing is still there, taunting you, reminding you that they are still there, still needing your attention, and growing bigger, day by day as you continue to ignore the giant elephant sitting in the room! We have had our share of running and fun this month, and it was time to stop it all, put my foot down, and make my way down to the laundry room that had been neglected and left to it's own, even though a daughter who shall remain nameless was asked to do nothing else but keep the loads of laundry going.... didn't even have to fold, just keep it moving! UGH... that will teach me for running off to a wedding!!

This precious little thing is the reason my project took most of the day, and into the night! He is adorable, and he dances like nobody's business to the rocking 80's music that his daddy has on the computer (and might I add... Thayne has an excellent play list that literally played for hours so we had lots of opportunities to rock!)

This is the 'elephant' that has been sitting in the room for many, many weeks! I knew it was time to get it taken care of, but I knew it would be an all day project... and it was. But boy does it feel good to have it done!

Yep..... feeling good about it all today!

Sadly.... this is what we still have to match after all of the laundry is done downstairs... but it's not really as bad as it seems and the left overs are going in the garbage, never to be seen again! It won't last. There really isn't a method that lasts at our house because, quite simply, we live in the sticks and my children are proud of being hicks! So I will continue to find socks out by the trampoline or floating in the pool, or sitting on the steps in the garage or out on the grass somewhere! And that's okay! I wish I could change it, but I can't, and it isn't worth stressing about too much! Soon enough the kids will grow up and then I will have no socks to match, unless my grandkids are as bad as their parents... then I will gladly go over to visit and match socks for them.... and I will probably take the 80's music and teach my grandbabies how to dance to it too!!!

How do you shut a girl up???

Kami and Kalli were talking to their dad tonight. We had been gone for a wedding so I guess they had to play catch up and fill him in on all of their activities and they can talk really fast! Thayne had sat down to eat a bowl of Lucky Charms and the girls kept right on talking. Finally he gave them both a big spoonful of cereal... and Kami said, "Now that's a good way to shut a girl up!" And now we know!

The 4th of July

As the kids grow up, I relish the times that we have to make good memories that will last forever. This was one of those times. It was just a relaxing, get out of our crazy world and do nothing with no place to go and nothing important to do but have fun. With some things going on in our lives with work and other stuff....this was just what the doctor ordered. We set up tents for the kids at my mom's house but we always need an extra shower since their house is tiny and their water heater is even tinier so we also got a motel room. For all that Delta has to offer, it does NOT have any decent motels. In fact they are quite disgusting. But because it was so disgusting, there was no way we were having kids sleep on the floor (since all of the double bed rooms were sold out) so it was just Thayne and I in the room with Nate (except the one night Kailee got the bright idea to let him stay in their tent, and it started raining at 1am and they were stuck hauling everyone in because one of them told the rest not to worry about the water proof cover!). I do not sleep very well at night... ever. But that weekend I slept, I slept like I was staying in a luxurious hotel. I don't know why, maybe it's because the room was on the very end of the motel and the window was inside a storage area and so it was dark in the room... I don't understand it, but it was sure wonderful! Everyone was with us, except Jace who ended up going to Tahoe with Caitlyn's family. Poor Caitlyn had to miss yet another 4th of July in Delta... I even bought her the matching shirt!!! We let the kids just run, swim, hang out and do whatever they wanted. We answered to nobody, worried about nothing and refilled some seriously empty cups! I loved being with Thayne, walking with him where it all began. We walked into the grocery store where we first met and I was amazed at how all of those memories came flooding back. There are so many amazing memories being there. I am amazed at how quickly and completely we fell in love. I am so grateful that we got to have a weekend that left us all refreshed and fulfilled!
