We made another trip to the burn clinic to have the graft checked out. They are impressed and said that he is healing very well. Jace is now needing to start building strength in his right leg by stepping and walking slowly and as much as he can and by doing some exercises many times a day. They didn't fit him for the 'sleeve' that he will wear on his leg yet because of the open wound above the graft, that will likely come in 2 weeks when we go back for his next appointment. It will take some work, but the doctor is very positive and expects a full recovery. Right now he gets so tired just walking short distances, but as he builds up strength he will get better and better.
Nate and Kailee went with us today and Nate was so thrilled to be able to be in the car with us. He kept waving at the big trucks that went by and then napped for 2 1/2 hours one way and the entire trip home. He hasn't been feeling well so it was nice to see him get some good sleep and he loved being at the hospital and hanging out with Jace. He and Jace have such an incredible bond and Nate just kept waving at him and telling him, "Peace" and giving him big smiles. It was a good trip.
A wise man once said, "In all living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." We have weathered storms that tried to break us, but through it all, we have always tried to find the joy in our journey. Watching our family grow has given us more joy than we ever thought possible. There is joy in the journey, even in the middle of the storms!
