He takes checks...

I am always amazed at how my kids make me smile. I love to hear the way their minds work. Recently the kids have been 'working' for a neighbor. He was in an accident and had his hand messed up pretty bad... losing at least one finger and needing many surgeries. They love to go over and help them with their horses, doing odd jobs around the house and helping out, plus they pay them (though the kids have told them many times that they don't need to pay them, they insist on doing it and it gives the kids a great sense of accomplishment to know that they worked hard to earn money.) Today they came home with a paper advertising his big tool box and tools from work since he won't be able to do that type of work ever again. I heard the little boys talking about it and Wyatt was telling Hyrum that he wants dad to take it to the mine to hang it up in case anyone wants to buy it. Hyrum told him to hold it because dad could use it, maybe he would want to buy it because there were so many tools that dad could do anything with them! Wyatt told him it's a lot of money and I told him that $4000 is probably more than dad can spend right now on tools. He patted me on the arm and said, "No, no mom.... he takes checks!" It seems that he made sure to ask if he would take checks, and Dave must have told him he would. I then explained AGAIN (this is not our first conversation with Hyrum about this) that you must have money in the bank in order to write a check! Oh to be a child and think anything can be yours at your finger tips... just by writing a check!
