We ran over to the concert last night. For a minute there it looked like we weren't going to make it, but we did and it was so worth it! I remember the first time I heard Forever And Ever, Amen and fell in love with his music. We were driving home from a prenatal appointment when I was a few months pregnant with Garrett. Thayne told me that was how he felt about me and I was newly married, newly pregnant and so very in love! Funny how those feelings have never gone away, but have only grown so much stronger! I couldn't help but think last night as he sang that song that we were expecting our son when I first heard it, and now, here we are 23 years later and that son is expecting a son of his own. Time flies!!!


And then, 18 years ago I got to see Randy Travis in concert in Milwaukee with Tracey. He was playing at one of the many fairs and she asked if I wanted to go. Thayne was working straight swing shift, 2pm to 2am sometimes 6 days a week and we only had one car so of course I jumped at the chance to get out of our tiny apartment and go see him. He was great then, he was just as great last night. A that concert he was singing the song Promises, about a guy that kept making and breaking promises to his wife... while he was singing a man in the front was drunk and fighting with his wife...as the song was coming to the end, the police came and took the guy away in handcuffs.... as they were walking away, he finished the song, the words of the song fit perfectly, "She'll quietly say goodbye..." He drew out the words and turned and watched as the police took the man away. It was the funniest thing. Everyone was laughing...

We enjoyed ourselves, enjoyed hanging out together and enjoyed the great music. His band it really incredible and I am so glad we had the opportunity to go. Thanks Kailee for winning the tickets!!! :)
